    Carbon Fund

    This specific type of fund will engage into Carbon related investments which consists generally in trading carbon emission rights.

    The principle about the Carbon trading resolves around three options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions :

    • Company limitation of Carbon production
    • Carbon Tax per amount of Co2 produce for companies
    • Creation of a Carbon market

    The revenue generated are mainly used to finance green, sustainable and renewable projects development leading to a Carbon reduction.

    The purchase and trading of Carbon credits futures contract on specific exchanges & indexes ( i.e. HIS , Barclays, etc)  are often the main type of assets traded by such Carbon Fund.

    The use of the Special Limited Partnership is particularly advantageous thanks to its flexible legal and tax environment, with key benefits for carbon investment include:

    • No risk spreading rule (the whole AUM of the Carbon fund can be invested into the same future contract)
    • Unlimited number of investors
    • Unregulated up to 100 Mio.
    • Issuance of several share classes
    • External auditor is not mandatory
    • Vehicles can be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (SOL) or on any other stock exchange
    • Full tax transparency – no withholding tax up on distribution of the dividends or profit
    • The fund can be incorporated within 1-2 weeks
    • It can be managed by an asset manager based abroad (non resident in Luxembourg).
    • The broker can be established in Luxembourg or abroad
